This tour will take you to the Enclosure Dam. This almost 31 kilometers long dam,
built between 1927 and 1932, changed the Zuiderzee into a lake - the IJsselmeer
or Lake IJssel - preventing the inland from flooding as had happened in the past.
Another benefit of this enormous construction was the winning of new farming land and
living space by means of poldering (constructing smaller circular dikes and pumping
out the water).
Second destination is the picturesque town of Enkhuizen, with its harbour and Zuiderzee-museum. From here we will continue to the city of Schermerhorn where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the three old windmills.
